How to use it
- Add your images.
- Choose JPG or WebP. Lower the quality until the preview size is what you need. The preview shows the new file size and how much you saved.
- To meet a limit such as "under 500 KB", enter a target size. The tool finds the highest quality that fits.
- Optionally limit the longest side, for example 2000 px. Then process and download.
Tips
- Quality 70 to 80 is a good starting point for photos. Most people cannot see the difference from 100, and the file is much smaller.
- Large dimensions are often the real reason a file is big. A 4000 px photo shown at 1000 px wastes space, so set a longest side as well.
- PNG is lossless, so its size hardly changes. For screenshots and photos choose JPG or WebP.
- If a file is already small, the tool keeps your original instead of making it bigger.
Frequently asked questions
How can I reduce an image to under 200 KB?
Choose JPG or WebP, enter 200 as the target size in KB and process the image. If the target cannot be reached by quality alone, also set a smaller longest side.
Does compressing lower the quality?
JPG and WebP are lossy, so a little detail is lost. At a moderate quality the loss is hard to notice, and you can compare with the original in the preview.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser, so the images stay on your device.
Why did a PNG not get smaller?
PNG stores every pixel exactly. To shrink it, save as WebP or JPG, or reduce its dimensions.
